Events in Idyllwild

First Saturdays are major art events in Idyllwild from March through October. That's when art openings, painting festivals, art-walks, and gallery tours happen.

Saturday Morning Art Cafés from May to October offer an opportunity for artists to discuss process and interact with art lovers in a casual setting in the galleries.

Detailed information about each event will appear on the Shows page approximately one month before the event.

Art Alliance of Idyllwild 2008

March 1 "First Saturday" Eye of the Artist Art Show & Fundraiser: “Emotions”

Member artists create works of art around the theme “Emotions” for opportunity drawings. Live auction. Food, wine and entertainment. The Rainbow Inn on South Circle will host the Eye of the Artist event in 2008. 7-9 p.m.

April 5 "First Saturday" 5th Annual Audible Art Tour

Gallery Openings in member galleries. Local musicians provide the Audible Art. Artist personal appearances, wine and music. 2-5 p.m.

May 2,3 "First Saturday" 10th Annual Member's Show

An open show of works from over 75 member artists held at the Rainbow Inn. Reception Friday, April 4 with Juror, and Community Favorite awards.

June 7 "First Saturday" 3-D Art Festival and Gallery Tour

Gallery openings in member galleries feature three dimensional artists in clay, glass, fiber, furniture, jewelry, and mixed media. Member galleries have maps of the tour. 1-4 p.m.

Saturday Morning Art Cafes in June

June 7, 14, 21, 28 - A different gallery hosts this educational event each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Artists demonstrate their techniques and processes in a casual environment. Coffee and pastries by local restaurants.

July 4,5 "First Saturday" 10th Annual Juried Members’ Show

The over 75 member artists submit their best work for jurying. Awards in photography, abstract, representation and three dimensional work are given. Community Favorite awards are presented at the reception on July 6.

August 2 "First Saturday" Art Treasure Hunt and Gallery Walk

Guests are invited on a treasure hunt through the member galleries. Maps and clues are provided from the Gazebo in the Village Centre. Guest artists in the galleries have the answers. The lucky winner will receive an all expense paid weekend in Idyllwild during the 11th Anniversary of the Art Walk and Wine Tasting on the First Saturday in October. Wine and music. 1-4 p.m.

View the progress of artist’s creations around the village of Idyllwild on Saturday. Mimosa reception and jurors awards on Sunday. See finished work and vote for your choice for the Community Favorite Award. Hosted by the Rainbow Inn on South Circle.
